Personalised quilling projects are a lovely way to turn a name into something special. For this piece, I created the name Amelia using pink on-edge quilling and decorated it with colourful paper flowers, green leaves, and a little butterfly.
The letters are made with the on-edge quilling technique, where the paper strip stands on its edge rather than lying flat. This gives the cursive lettering a little height and makes the name stand out from the background. Shaping the paper around all those curves takes patience, especially with flowing letters, but the finished effect is worth the extra time.
The finished quilling name art is displayed in a white frame with a white mat, keeping the focus on the name and floral details. Projects like this combine two things I enjoy making: decorative lettering and quilled flowers. They also make thoughtful personalised gifts for children, whether for a bedroom decoration, a birthday, or another special occasion.
I hope this piece gives you some ideas for your own paper quilling projects. You could try a different name, experiment with new colours, or create a floral arrangement to match a child's room.
