Usually, when a customer orders a wedding card from me, they say: “It’s up to you. Choose the colors and flowers, we love all your works.” This happens in about 99% of my custom orders! It is a big compliment, but also a small challenge, because I start with a blank page.
The card has several layers, and each one adds some depth. First is a clean white card base, then a sage green paper with a delicate leaf pattern, and then a textured mint green mat. On top, there is a white ornamental lace die-cut frame, which gives the card an elegant, romantic look. Inside this frame, I put the quilling composition, so the paper flowers look like they are growing out of the lace.
The big flower on the left is the star of this paper quilling project. It has six petals made with the comb technique, and each petal is full of tiny, delicate shapes. This is my favorite part of making paper quilling flowers, because it takes patience, but the result is really special. Around it, I placed small 3D cupped flowers and flat blossoms, decorated with white pearls and little crystals in the centers. Light green quilled leaves, thin paper vines, and curly tendrils go around the card and lead the eye to the center. A few small flowers in the top right corner balance the whole quilling flowers design.
